Color Correction

.
.
Subtract the blue,
It’s too cold to ask for a blanket in mid February, when the stores run out of scarves in Geneva; the flowers’ market hibernate in Amsterdam; concrete squeaks in New York City where I exclude the three ice cubes from my pure malt, trying to convince myself that the bartender, who resembles wife of Picasso, likes me. Trying not to drown, I Hang on a deceptive cadence that hangs on a saxophone hanging
on
an
exha-
usted
sigh

Feather the yellow, before my neurons make a melodramatic show,
I order,
I need a smile and a hello;
That don’t consume the rest
Of my April emotions.
I need a monsoon to
Pour all over my sight.
At late night, grand and white
Might shine the moon
And when I yawn

Add red,
Make me scream,
“It’s too spicy
to quit” and
I’ll hit on your
muscle-clock
A femtosecond beat
You chill me
with heat
we- Like any scandalous
Angles- should wear
white
swimming garments
and dive -like any
children-
heads
first
into
Hell

This poem is vibrant and alive, awash in color and sound, I like the play with form too. I think it's interesting how your fragmented like sounding words throughout the body of the poem, like a cubist painting almost. But I don't think that's what you had in mind when you refer to Picasso's wife :)
My favorite part is the image of (and how you control the word flow in)
"hanging on a deceptive cadence...exhausted sigh." powerful stuff. "like children," indeed- no matter how jaded we become.

But I'll tell you what(though I know it's not what you meant): when you subtract the blue, feather the yellow, and add red, you definitely get orange :)

DV, I've said it before and I'll say it again: you're my favorite Kuwaiti poet, hands down. Thanks for sharing your awesome work.

Thanks a lot for your close reading and spontaneous comment. No one nails it as accurately as you do.(Is it because of similarity in cultural backgrounds?)

Orange ha? How could you possibly know what I subtract from or add to. You need to know that to figure out the final result? don't you? :)

Anyway the final result is for you as a reader to enjoy, so subtract and add as you wish and then choose your conclusion and choose it diligently. I know I’ve done my job perfectly if you enjoy doing that ;)

hah, you're right, I need to know what colors you originally had before I bust out with 'orange' thinking I'm all clever (I used to paint)and what-not. You know I like to try and decipher your work!

decipher all you want if you enjoy it.

I frankly enjoy deciphering your comments. They tell me things such as: when I subtract blue, feather yellow and add red on your intiuitive canvas, I get orange.

I don't paint, but I appreciate art and obviously I'm in love with Wife of Picasso.
